My approach
Coaching that’s built for you — and holds up over years.
Three principles shape every program I write. Together, they’re why my clients keep training with me year after year.
Evidence-based
Programming grounded in Exercise Science — not fitness fads.
Fitness is full of loud opinions and short-lived trends. My programming is grounded in the research on how bodies actually adapt to training — not what’s popular on Instagram this month.
I’m ASCA Accredited (Australian Strength & Conditioning Association), studying Exercise Science at Griffith University, and currently working through Clinical Exercise Physiology. That means the principles behind your program — how volume progresses, how intensity is managed, how recovery gets programmed, how rehab exercises are chosen — are drawn from the same evidence base used with athletes and clinical populations.
In practice, that shows up as:
- Progressive overload done properly. Loads, reps, sets and tempo move on a schedule that matches how you’re actually recovering — not a random weekly bump.
- Exercise selection with a reason. Every movement is there because it targets something specific for you — a weak link, a movement pattern, a stability need, a rehab progression.
- Deloads and recovery baked in. Your program plans for hard weeks and easier ones. Fatigue management is the reason people get stronger long-term, not an afterthought.
- Nutrition guidance that’s honest. No cleanses, no fear of food groups. Practical guidance built around energy availability, protein, and habits you can keep.
Personalised
Every plan built around your body, your life — nothing off the shelf.
No two clients get the same program. Not similar programs — different programs. Your body, your training history, your schedule, your injuries and your goals all change what ‘the right plan’ actually looks like.
Before you get a program, we talk. I want to understand where you’re coming from and where you’re going — what your week looks like, what you’ve tried before, what worked, what didn’t, what your body is telling you now.
From there, I build:
- A training frequency that fits your life. 3 days? 5 days? Split by muscle group or full-body? We build around what you can actually stick to.
- Exercises that respect your body. Injuries, mobility restrictions, joint history — all factored in from session one. If a lift hurts, we swap it — but with a purposeful alternative.
- Weekly adjustments, not quarterly ones. Programs update as you progress. If you’re smashing it, we push harder. If life gets messy, we adapt without losing momentum.
- A coach who actually knows your story. I read your check-ins. I remember what happened last week. That’s the difference between a template and coaching.
Long-term results
Strength and confidence that stay with you — not crash-diet wins.
The fitness industry sells transformations. I coach for what happens after the transformation — the version of you that’s still training, still confident, still moving well, five years from now.
That changes what we prioritise. Fast fat loss is easy; keeping the muscle you built while losing it is harder. Aesthetic peaks are impressive; walking pain-free at 60 is impressive too. Both are on the table — but the plan is always sustainable.
In practice, long-term thinking looks like:
- Muscle before rapid weight loss. Building a base of strength and muscle first means fat loss phases actually keep the shape you want — not a smaller version of the same body.
- Habits over restriction. Nutrition changes stick when they’re small, repeatable, and honest about real life — parties, holidays, bad weeks.
- Joint health, mobility, and rehab as core work. Not an afterthought. Programs include the boring stuff that keeps you training injury-free.
- Autonomy at the end of it. My best clients eventually understand their own training well enough to run it themselves. That’s the goal — not dependence, capability.
